Loveable Leioproctus, or Leioproctus amabilis
Very unique greeting card, reproduced from an original watercolour painting by Australian artist Cheryl Hodges
This bespoke greeting card is 10 x 15cm and blank on the inside. It's paired with a neutral brown recycled envelope.
Text on reverse of card reads:
Leioproctus is a large genus of around 200 described species. They are medium sized bees which are mostly generalist foragers meaning they visit a variety of plant species for their nectar and pollen. These bees nest in the ground, often with the entrance to their burrow encircled by a conical mound of loose soil particles. The Leioproctus amabilis has a striking metallic green or golden sheen on the abdomen which is quite variable.
